Death and the Maiden

My name is Ernesto Schnack, I compose and play guitar.

I started Death and the Maiden as a bit of an experiment. I wanted to hear what a rock/metal band would sound as a chamber ensemble, so I started playing string quartets note for note and added drums to it.

I liked how it sounded, so I kept going with it, and the result so far is what you'll find on this site.

While I enjoy doing these arrangements, I see them really as research and development for the real goal, which is to make my own "chamber metal" compositions.

But now I'm just getting ahead of myself...
